Résumé : Le mutant, figure scientifique et mythique de notre société du XXIè siècle, est investi depuis des années par les arts. Symbole de puissance, de pouvoirs, de discontinuités, de rupture – le mutant est l’une des clés pour interroger le devenir-posthumain de l’humanité. Cette dernière a conquis les capacités démiurgiques de retoucher la Nature, de créer de nouveaux êtres, de se parfaire et de se designer à son désir. De tels changements, fertiles en promesses, ébranlent les bases des sociétés humaines : c’est tout le cadre normatif, éthique, idéologique, philosophique qui doit être repensé afin d’intégrer cette nouvelle entité dans le périmètre de sa réflexion. ** Dieu mort, l’Homme en ballottage – le mutant, fruit d’un processus de mutation, fait fi des commandements de l’Evolution, invente ses propres règles, se construit à tâtons, explore un terrain vierge en quête de sa propre identité.

Summary : The mutant is both a scientific and a mythical Figure, born during the 20th century, questioned by artists since years. Symbol of Power, skills, rupture, discontinuities – the mutant is one of the key to ponder over the posthumanity. Humanity is now able to play god, to redesign Nature, to create new creatures, to enhance itself as it will. Such shifts, full of promises, are a genuine turmoil for the human society: the whole philosophical, ethical, ideological framework must be rethought – in order to integrate this new entity within the field of its Ratio. ** God is dead, and Man is dying – the mutant, stemming from a mutation’s process, does not care about what the Evolution command. He invents his own rules, build his-self step by step, explore a virgin area, looking for his own identity.
